For 1.9 billion Muslims worldwide, 20% of which live in the Middle East, Ramadan is the ninth and holiest month of the year. Observed by Muslims with a 30-day period of sacrificial fasting, it culminates with the feasting and celebrations of Eid-al-Fitr.
As it follows the lunar cycle, Ramadan rotates by 10 or 11 days each year. In 2024, it commenced on the evening of Sunday 10th March, and end in the evening of Monday 8th April.
For Muslim communities, Ramadan is a season of prayerfulness, reflection, generosity and spending time with loved ones – much like Christmastime for Christians and many secular communities in the West. With spirituality heightened in the Middle East during this time, we took the opportunity to commit to 30 days of focused intercession for the region and our ministry.
