The Man Behind our New Apologetics Project

Growing up in one of North Africa’s oldest cultural and religious communities, Ramez, our Head Producer, knows what it’s like to be part of a small Christian minority. In a town with very few Christians, school was a difficult place. Many Christian children faced bullying, and some even changed their names to more neutral ones, like Ibrahim, to avoid discrimination. From a young age, Ramez understood what it meant to feel excluded, yet he was too young to challenge it. These experiences shaped his understanding of identity, faith and resilience.

Even small daily choices required caution. When taking a taxi to church, Ramez would often tell the driver he was going to the mosque instead, an attempt to avoid yet more hostility. Thankfully, the two places of worship were close enough to make this small act of self-protection possible.

As he grew older and explored his faith more deeply, Ramez encountered a common perception—that Christianity was weak. But the more he learned, the more he realised that love and forgiveness, often mistaken for weakness, were actually Christianity’s greatest strengths. He also discovered that many misconceptions about the Bible, Jesus and Christianity had been accepted as facts without question. However, his parents warned him against discussing this issue with his non-Christian friends, fearing it would only lead to more discrimination.

Because the West is broadly associated with Christianity, many in the Arab world assume that what they see in Western films reflects Christian values. Here in the West, we know this isn’t true—but how do you challenge these misconceptions in the Arab world?

Even after graduating, starting his career, and getting married, Ramez remained deeply troubled by this issue. Christian beliefs are often misunderstood, seen as weak, corrupted, and confusing. These false perceptions not only sow doubt among Christians but also discourage others from exploring the faith at all. In an environment like this, young people are at risk of radicalisation, having never been exposed to an accurate understanding of Christianity.

Despite many respected Christian scholars in the region, their teachings mainly reach educated Christians, failing to connect with everyday people—especially youth, who make up nearly half of the population. Meanwhile, videos attacking Christianity in Arabic attract millions of views, deepening misunderstandings.

Our Strengths project was created to address this challenge. Through 10 documentary-style apologetics videos, we aim to present Christianity in a logical, engaging, and entertaining way. We’re not just sharing facts—we’re using animation, interviews and even virtual characters to make our message clear and relatable. Using simple and engaging language, episodes will be accessible on social media and TV, reaching people where they are.

We believe Strengths will break down the false narratives that many Arabs have been taught about Christianity and open the door for real understanding. By the end of each episode, we want viewers to see that what some see as Christianity’s weakness is actually its greatest strength.

With your support, we have already produced a 40-minute pilot episode and tested it with various focus groups, including those from Muslim backgrounds. A Moroccan ministry leader shared his excitement: “We have watched the episode three times. It’s not just a video; it’s a powerful learning tool filled with knowledge we desperately need. I will use it with my discipleship team. This project needs significant marketing so it can reach a wider audience.”

Our projects like this have a reach of millions online each year. Your support helps change lives, challenge misconceptions and bring truth to those who need it.
